Ant Q&A: Diane Davis
Owner, Creative Services Director, Account Supervisor
How would you describe your job?
Hmmm, that’s a loaded question. The creative services aspect of my job is acting as liaison between account service and the creative department. I assign jobs to each person, make sure all deadlines are met and manage overall workflow. The part of my job I’m most passionate about is the work we do on concessions and rebranding of arenas and stadiums. I am the account manager on all of these accounts and oversee projects from beginning to end—from measuring walls to visiting with the client about expectations to working with vendors throughout the country for final product and installation.
What are your job’s biggest challenges and how do you meet them?
The biggest challenge is deadlines. I have a lot of moving parts to these arenas, including meeting with clients, getting new designs created, finding vendors and getting things approved. There is a lot of time and money put into revamping these locations, so every detail matters. It can keep me up at night.
It could be argued that you have a type A personality. Where does your passion for everything—your job, your dogs, your family, Halloween, OSU, Walt Disney, etc.—come from?
I am 100% dedicated to everything I love and 0% to things I don’t. For instance: Do I like peanut butter? Nope! Won’t touch it and don’t even want to smell it. Heights? No thanks, I’m not jumping out of anything. Cats? They make my face swell up. But my passion—some might say “obsession”—for the things I love comes from the happiness they bring me. Little things go a long way, so it’s those things that keep life simple for me. Example: When I was little, my parents took us to Disney World, the happiest place on earth, and I got my first Mickey Mouse and brought him home. Whenever I would see a Mickey Mouse, it made me feel joy and brought back good memories. My dad has the same love for Disney. I now have an amazing collection of old and new Disney treasures, and each one makes me smile. My obsession with my dogs? Have you met them? How could you not be obsessed? True love is the love of a dog. Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend never owned a dog. So, I know my personality is obsessive, but not for bad things in life—just the good, simple stuff!
If you weren’t running an agency, what would you be doing?
I would love to renovate homes and flip houses with my husband, Jeff. We have fun and work well together. We love to build, redo or reinvent things. Outside of that, I would want a ranch to rescue dogs, pit bulls especially. The problem is that I would want to keep them all, and there are already two pit bulls in my bed. Jeff might have to draw the line on that one.
