Ant Q&A: Hayden Von Drehle

Hayden Von Drehle
Account Manager

How would you describe your job?
Fast-paced, challenging, rewarding.

Why did you get into this wacky business?
I love that every day I show up and it’s not the same old, same old. One thing I love about this business is that you’ve always got to be on your feet, ready for the next exciting adventure or client phone call saying, “We have an event coming up, we want a rebrand, website and collateral—can you help?” I also love having the opportunity to build relationships while being on the account side of the agency world. I love being able to support and motivate my team while also supporting and motivating my client.

Give us five fun facts about Hayden:
If a French or English bulldog crosses my path, I will drop everything that I’m doing to give my full attention to that snotty-nosed, heavy-breathing, beautiful creature.

In college, I saw OU Heisman winner Sam Bradford at a restaurant. I panicked and all that came out of my mouth was “Yay, football!” My family has never let me live that down.

I can pretty much quote the entire movie Old School.

My shoulders are double-jointed. It’s weird.

I was a competitive cheerleader for 12 years and traveled around the U.S. competing, but I can’t do a handstand to save my life.

What inspires you at work? And, what inspires you outside of work?
My coworkers inspire me. I’ve been blessed with getting to work with some of the most talented people in the business (including my clients). Every relationship that I’ve made and every relationship that I continue to grow inspire me. I’m pushed, I’m challenged, and I’m eager to continue to grow because of my colleagues and friends in the workplace. I never wanna stop, even at the top!

Outside of work, my 14-month-old son inspires me. I often look at him and think, “Man, I wish I could be more like him!” He makes me stop in the middle of a walk to look at a green weed growing through a dirty crack in the road—something that most people would ignore or overlook. He squeals and points when he sees a garbage truck—something that most people would avoid because of the smell and how unsanitary they are. But when you think about it, garbage trucks ARE pretty cool. He inspires me to be more present and to remember to notice the smaller, greener things in this crazy and sometimes unpleasant world.

What would you be doing if you weren’t in the advertising world?
In the evenings, you can find me binge-watching the latest crime series on Netflix. I think I would make a fantastic detective. I love solving problems/mysteries. Ever heard of Lt. Joe Kenda? Yeah, someone like him, minus the gory parts of the job—I can’t un-see the crime scenes!

You are about to reach your one-year Ant-iversary. What do you like about working at AcrobatAnt?
The people. We are a fierce team. We conquer obstacles, we praise each other’s success, and we want the same results. We work hard and we play hard.
