Ant Q&A: David Burney

AcrobatAnt Account Director
David Burney

Meet David Burney, a veteran of the Tulsa advertising scene whose extensive talent and experience give our creative department a huge shot in the arm. For David, aka “Dave,” joining the AcrobatAnt team is a reunion with Bryan and Matt, his former colleagues in the thrilling corporate world. Welcome to the Colony, Dave.

Why did you get into this wacky business?

In junior high, I was obsessed with album covers. When I learned that commercial art was a thing, I decided that’s what I wanted to do. I was probably 13 at the time. While I did not end up working exclusively in the music industry, I have done a few album covers since starting my professional journey in graphic design over 25 years ago.

Give us three to five fun facts about David:

  • I have a double-jointed elbow.
  • I am only three degrees of separation from members of Metallica (sort of).
  • I have jumped out of a plane.

What activities do you pursue outside of the agency?

I read a lot of sci-fi, play guitar sometimes, hike and travel with the family, nerd out over my Mac, and occasionally get to play video games.

What would you be doing if you weren’t in the advertising world?

Probably working in psychology, behavioral health, or neuroscience. I’m fascinated by the way people think and feel, and what impacts or influences individual reactions and behaviors.
