The VibrANT Summer of 2019

As we prepare to settle back into the groove of the school year and anticipate cooler fall weather, we look back and realize that it has been quite an eventful summer.

Growing

We are excited to announce that three Ants joined the colony over the last couple of months: Brent Jackson, Bradan Mitchell and Will Skaggs.

Brent is our new director of website development. Along with development expertise, Brent brings years of experience in a variety of industries—including tourism and venue marketing—and a passion for mobile, ADA accessibility and user experience that will keep our clients ahead of the curve. Want to learn more about Brent? Check out his Q&A—he’s this month’s Featured Ant.

Bradan Mitchell comes to us with a great portfolio and talents that are way beyond those of the average designer fresh out of college (Oklahoma State University). His video-editing experience adds a new dimension to our creative capabilities, and will help us expedite turnaround on various video projects.

Will Skaggs is our most recent addition, but he’s not exactly new to the Ant farm. Will worked with us as a designer from 2010 to 2014, but left to pursue a great opportunity at an agency in Milwaukee. Now he’s back in town, returning with his wife and new baby to be closer to family. We are glad to have him back. He is not only an accomplished designer but also an excellent photographer.

Expanding

Okay, so we aren’t adding locations, but our Ant family is definitely expanding. In July, designer Annie Nelligan gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Brooks. And our digital producer, Dana Jacobs, is expecting a baby boy later this year. We love new baby Ants!

With the addition of three new employees, it was high time to reoccupy the Ant loft—our second floor that had been serving as meeting and storage space for nearly two years. Three ants have taken the leap and moved upstairs, with potentially more to follow. The loft currently has a meeting area, four offices, a workspace for mock-ups/presentation mounting and—our favorite—a living room for casual meetings (or storytime). We even have a cool bucket-and-pulley system to keep things moving between floors.

Learning

Over the summer, the Ants continued to show their commitment to knowledge and personal growth. We have two new Google certifications: mobile development and analytics (good job, Brent!). And our controller, David Vávra, was accepted to a master’s program (Master of Accountancy, or M.Acc.) that starts this month. And, to improve client reporting, account coordinator Sally Baca has become our go-to guru on Google Data Studio.

While the team was gaining knowledge, we were also fortunate to share our knowledge with our intern, Peyton Lissau. Peyton is the niece of late agency partner, Diane Davis, and we were excited to continue her aunt’s legacy by introducing her to the agency business. She spent time with every agency department, and ended up solidifying her chosen career path. When she graduates in three years from Colorado State, we hope she’ll give us a call and we’ll have the first chance to get her to join the Colony.

We hope you’ve had a summer to remember, because we sure have.
